Ridgway was a great gathering again this year. The carving event gathered 59 carvers from England, Germany, Canada, Scotland, France and eastern coast of the US.  The event benefited Make A Wish and the YMCA.

Our Auction Donation:

This year once again, the event was organized by Rick and Randy Boni of Bootjack Mountain Studio.  The Boni's and entire town of Ridgway pulled together to make the carving rendezvous a great success.  Our thanks to all of you!!! Bringing this many carvers together to work in a noncompetitive atmosphere, to share ideas and some of the wildest stories you ever did hear is quite an experience for all of us.

On Saturday morning, the wood carving event began at 7:30 AM.  It was clear, but quite brisk.  Each carver worked on a carving or two during the day.  The rest of us huddled around the bonfires and watched in amazement as logs turned into incredible works of art!

The event was organized in the "midwinter" at a time when carvers aren't as busy and can get together for a weekend.  The cold winter in northern PA also allows the carvers to try their hand at a little ice carving.  This year there was a main theme for the ice carving.  A central work of art depicting the chainsaw carver and their benefactor, Make A Wish.  A large castle was carved out of blocks of ice.  The intent was to fill the moat with water and float goldfish in there.  It was a little too cold for the fish, so they were removed to spend the weekend in a little warmer place.  

There was plenty of food, music and carvings to check out.  It was a great day for the town of Ridgway.  The auction began at 3:00 PM. What an exceptional opportunity to purchase carvings from your favorite carver and make a charitable contribution at the same time.  All of the pieces were auctioned off.  

It was a very successful day for Make A Wish.
